Starting in version 4.1.83.Final and prior to 4.1.86.Final, when calling `DefaultHttpHeadesr.set` with an _iterator_ of values, header value validation was not performed, allowing malicious header values in the iterator to perform HTTP Response Splitting. This issue has been patched in version 4.1.86.Final. Integrators can work around the issue by changing the `DefaultHttpHeaders.set(CharSequence, Iterator<?>)` call, into a `remove()` call, and call `add()` in a loop over the iterator of values.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-436","CWE-113"],"references":["https://github.com/netty/netty/commit/fe18adff1c2b333acb135ab779a3b9ba3295a1c4","https://github.com/netty/netty/issues/13084","https://github.com/netty/netty/pull/12760","https://github.com/netty/netty/security/advisories/GHSA-hh82-3pmq-7frp","https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2023/01/msg00008.html"],"products":["debian:debian_linux","netty:netty"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:37:28.463369388+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-41915","score":0.00952,"percentile":0.61334,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-hh82-3pmq-7frp","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-hh82-3pmq-7frp","summary":"Netty vulnerable to HTTP Response splitting from assigning header value iterator","modified":"2026-01-28T03:41:22.759080Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"io.netty:netty-codec-http","purl":"pkg:maven/io.netty/netty-codec-http","ranges":[">=4.1.83.Final <4.1.86.Final"],"fixed":["4.1.86.Final"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
