{"cve":"CVE-2022-4022","nvd":{"published":"2022-11-16T14:15:11.547","modified":"2026-06-17T05:19:46.963","status":"Modified","description":"The SVG Support plugin for WordPress defaults to insecure settings in version 2.5 and 2.5.1. SVG files containing malicious javascript are not sanitized. While version 2.5 adds the ability to sanitize image as they are uploaded, the plugin defaults to disable sanitization and does not restrict SVG upload to only administrators. This allows authenticated attackers, with author-level privileges and higher, to upload malicious SVG files that can be embedded in posts and pages by higher privileged users. Additionally, the embedded JavaScript is also triggered on visiting the image URL, which allows an attacker to execute malicious code in browsers visiting that URL.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":5.4},"cwes":["CWE-79"],"references":["https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?sfp_email=&sfph_mail=&reponame=&new=2776612%40svg-support%2Ftrunk&old=2672900%40svg-support%2Ftrunk&sfp_email=&sfph_mail=","https://www.wordfence.com/vulnerability-advisories-continued/#CVE-2022-4022","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?sfp_email=&sfph_mail=&reponame=&new=2776612%40svg-support%2Ftrunk&old=2672900%40svg-support%2Ftrunk&sfp_email=&sfph_mail=","https://www.wordfence.com/vulnerability-advisories-continued/#CVE-2022-4022"],"products":["benbodhi:svg_support"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:37:08.729216836+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-4022","score":0.00465,"percentile":0.40271,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
