Any application using @fastify/websocket could crash if a specific, malformed packet is sent. All versions of fastify-websocket are also impacted. That module is deprecated, so it will not be patched. This has been patched in version 7.1.1 (fastify v4) and version 5.0.1 (fastify v3). There are currently no known workarounds. However, it should be possible to attach the error handler manually. The recommended path is upgrading to the patched versions.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-248"],"references":["https://github.com/fastify/fastify-websocket/security/advisories/GHSA-4pcg-wr6c-h9cq","https://github.com/fastify/fastify-websocket/security/advisories/GHSA-4pcg-wr6c-h9cq"],"products":["fastify:websocket"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:37:08.729216836+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-39386","score":0.00795,"percentile":0.56423,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-4pcg-wr6c-h9cq","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-4pcg-wr6c-h9cq","summary":"fastify/websocket vulnerable to uncaught exception via crash on malformed packet","modified":"2023-11-08T04:10:20.592717Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@fastify/websocket","purl":"pkg:npm/%40fastify/websocket","ranges":[">=5.0.0 <5.0.1"],"fixed":["5.0.1"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@fastify/websocket","purl":"pkg:npm/%40fastify/websocket","ranges":[">=6.0.0 <7.1.1"],"fixed":["7.1.1"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"fastify-websocket","purl":"pkg:npm/fastify-websocket","ranges":["<=4.3.0"],"fixed":[]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
