On 32 bit systems, in versions 9.1.16 and newer but prior to 12.7.1, allocate_structures contains a size_t overflow in sa_common.c. The allocate_structures function insufficiently checks bounds before arithmetic multiplication, allowing for an overflow in the size allocated for the buffer representing system activities. This issue may lead to Remote Code Execution (RCE). This issue has been patched in version 12.7.1.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.8},"cwes":["CWE-131","CWE-120"],"references":["https://github.com/sysstat/sysstat/security/advisories/GHSA-q8r6-g56f-9w7x","https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2022/11/msg00014.html","https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/6F26ALXWYHT4LN2AHPZM34OQEXTJE3JZ/","https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/7X6WKTODOUDV6M3HZMASYNZP6EM4N7W4/","https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/PHUVUDIVDJZ7AVXD3XX3NBXXXKPOKN3N/"],"products":["debian:debian_linux","fedoraproject:fedora","sysstat_project:sysstat"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:37:08.729216836+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-39377","score":0.0127,"percentile":0.69821,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
