{"cve":"CVE-2022-39300","nvd":{"published":"2022-10-13T22:15:10.300","modified":"2026-06-17T04:58:05.997","status":"Modified","description":"node SAML is a SAML 2.0 library based on the SAML implementation of passport-saml. A remote attacker may be able to bypass SAML authentication on a website using passport-saml. A successful attack requires that the attacker is in possession of an arbitrary IDP signed XML element. Depending on the IDP used, fully unauthenticated attacks (e.g without access to a valid user) might also be feasible if generation of a signed message can be triggered. Users should upgrade to node-saml version 4.0.0-beta5 or newer. Disabling SAML authentication may be done as a workaround.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.1},"cwes":["CWE-347"],"references":["https://github.com/node-saml/node-saml/commit/c1f275c289c01921e58f5c70ce0fdbc5287e5fbe","https://github.com/node-saml/node-saml/security/advisories/GHSA-5p8w-2mvw-38pv","https://github.com/node-saml/node-saml/commit/c1f275c289c01921e58f5c70ce0fdbc5287e5fbe","https://github.com/node-saml/node-saml/security/advisories/GHSA-5p8w-2mvw-38pv"],"products":["node_saml_project:node_saml"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:36:05.460296998+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-39300","score":0.00782,"percentile":0.5601,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-5p8w-2mvw-38pv","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-5p8w-2mvw-38pv","summary":"Signature bypass via multiple root elements","modified":"2023-11-08T04:10:18.269789Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"node-saml","purl":"pkg:npm/node-saml","ranges":["<4.0.0-beta.5"],"fixed":["4.0.0-beta.5"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
