Affected versions of fastify are subject to a denial of service via malicious use of the Content-Type header. An attacker can send an invalid Content-Type header that can cause the application to crash. This issue has been addressed in commit `fbb07e8d` and will be included in release version 4.8.1. Users are advised to upgrade. Users unable to upgrade may manually filter out http content with malicious Content-Type headers.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-754"],"references":["https://github.com/fastify/fastify/commit/fbb07e8dfad74c69cd4cd2211aedab87194618e3","https://github.com/fastify/fastify/security/advisories/GHSA-455w-c45v-86rg","https://github.com/fastify/fastify/security/policy","https://github.com/fastify/fastify/commit/fbb07e8dfad74c69cd4cd2211aedab87194618e3","https://github.com/fastify/fastify/security/advisories/GHSA-455w-c45v-86rg"],"products":["fastify:fastify"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:36:05.460296998+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-39288","score":0.59244,"percentile":0.99117,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-455w-c45v-86rg","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-455w-c45v-86rg","summary":"fastify vulnerable to denial of service via malicious Content-Type","modified":"2023-11-08T04:10:17.835364Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"fastify","purl":"pkg:npm/fastify","ranges":[">=4.0.0 <4.8.1"],"fixed":["4.8.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
