{"cve":"CVE-2022-39225","nvd":{"published":"2022-09-23T07:15:09.130","modified":"2026-06-17T04:57:57.023","status":"Modified","description":"Parse Server is an open source backend that can be deployed to any infrastructure that can run Node.js. In versions prior to 4.10.15, or 5.0.0 and above prior to 5.2.6, a user can write to the session object of another user if the session object ID is known. For example, an attacker can assign the session object to their own user by writing to the `user` field and then read any custom fields of that session object. Note that assigning a session to another user does not usually change the privileges of either of the two users, and a user cannot assign their own session to another user. This issue is patched in version 4.10.15 and above, and 5.2.6 and above. To mitigate this issue in unpatched versions add a `beforeSave` trigger to the `_Session` class and prevent writing if the requesting user is different from the user in the session object.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N","score":3.1},"cwes":["CWE-669"],"references":["https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/security/advisories/GHSA-6w4q-23cf-j9jp","https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/security/advisories/GHSA-6w4q-23cf-j9jp"],"products":["parseplatform:parse-server"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:36:05.460296998+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-39225","score":0.00488,"percentile":0.42074,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-6w4q-23cf-j9jp","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-6w4q-23cf-j9jp","summary":"parse-server's session object properties can be updated by foreign user if object ID is known","modified":"2023-12-06T01:02:32.744748Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"parse-server","purl":"pkg:npm/parse-server","ranges":["<4.10.15"],"fixed":["4.10.15"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"parse-server","purl":"pkg:npm/parse-server","ranges":[">=5.0.0 <5.2.6"],"fixed":["5.2.6"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
