Versions prior to 0.0.12 are subject to OS command injection resulting in shell execution if the RPM contains a malicious \"payload compressor\" field. This vulnerability impacts the `extract` and `files` methods of the `RPM::File` class of this library. Version 0.0.12 patches these issues. A workaround for this issue is to ensure any RPMs being processed contain valid/known payload compressor values such as gzip, bzip2, xz, zstd, and lzma. The payload compressor field in an rpm can be checked by using the rpm command line tool.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.8},"cwes":["CWE-78"],"references":["https://github.com/jordansissel/ruby-arr-pm/pull/14","https://github.com/jordansissel/ruby-arr-pm/pull/15","https://github.com/jordansissel/ruby-arr-pm/security/advisories/GHSA-88cv-mj24-8w3q","https://github.com/jordansissel/ruby-arr-pm/pull/14","https://github.com/jordansissel/ruby-arr-pm/pull/15"],"products":["ruby-arr-pm_project:ruby-arr-pm"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:36:05.460296998+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-39224","score":0.01457,"percentile":0.73501,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-88cv-mj24-8w3q","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-88cv-mj24-8w3q","summary":"arr-pm vulnerable to arbitrary shell execution when extracting or listing files contained in a malicious rpm.","modified":"2023-11-08T04:10:15.515035Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"RubyGems","name":"arr-pm","purl":"pkg:gem/arr-pm","ranges":["<0.0.12"],"fixed":["0.0.12"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
