A security issue was discovered affecting parsing of the RPC result of the exit reason in case of EVM reversion. In release build, this would cause the exit reason being incorrectly parsed and returned by RPC. In debug build, this would cause an overflow panic. No action is needed unless you have a bridge node that needs to distinguish different reversion exit reasons and you used RPC for this. There are currently no known workarounds.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-190"],"references":["https://github.com/paritytech/frontier/commit/fff8cc43b7756ce3979a38fc473f38e6e24ac451","https://github.com/paritytech/frontier/pull/820","https://github.com/paritytech/frontier/security/advisories/GHSA-mjvm-mhgc-q4gp","https://github.com/paritytech/frontier/commit/fff8cc43b7756ce3979a38fc473f38e6e24ac451","https://github.com/paritytech/frontier/pull/820"],"products":["parity:frontier"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:34:18.502168378+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-36008","score":0.01214,"percentile":0.68552,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-mjvm-mhgc-q4gp","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-mjvm-mhgc-q4gp","summary":"Incorrect parsing of EVM reversion exit reason in RPC","modified":"2024-10-24T21:48:34Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"fc-rpc","purl":"pkg:cargo/fc-rpc","ranges":["<=1.0.0"],"fixed":[]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
