{"cve":"CVE-2022-35927","nvd":{"published":"2022-08-04T21:15:08.103","modified":"2026-06-17T04:52:32.410","status":"Modified","description":"Contiki-NG is an open-source, cross-platform operating system for IoT devices. In the RPL-Classic routing protocol implementation in the Contiki-NG operating system, an incoming DODAG Information Option (DIO) control message can contain a prefix information option with a length parameter. The value of the length parameter is not validated, however, and it is possible to cause a buffer overflow when copying the prefix in the set_ip_from_prefix function. This vulnerability affects anyone running a Contiki-NG version prior to 4.7 that can receive RPL DIO messages from external parties. To obtain a patched version, users should upgrade to Contiki-NG 4.7 or later. There are no workarounds for this issue.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-120"],"references":["https://github.com/contiki-ng/contiki-ng/pull/1589","https://github.com/contiki-ng/contiki-ng/pull/1589/commits/4fffab0e632c4d01910fa957d1fd9ef321eb87d2","https://github.com/contiki-ng/contiki-ng/security/advisories/GHSA-9rm9-3phh-p4wm","https://github.com/contiki-ng/contiki-ng/pull/1589","https://github.com/contiki-ng/contiki-ng/pull/1589/commits/4fffab0e632c4d01910fa957d1fd9ef321eb87d2"],"products":["contiki-ng:contiki-ng"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:34:18.502168378+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-35927","score":0.0216,"percentile":0.82212,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
