Kubernetes clusters are only affected if an untrusted user can modify Node objects and send proxy requests to them. Kubernetes supports node proxying, which allows clients of kube-apiserver to access endpoints of a Kubelet to establish connections to Pods, retrieve container logs, and more. While Kubernetes already validates the proxying address for Nodes, a bug in kube-apiserver made it possible to bypass this validation. Bypassing this validation could allow authenticated requests destined for Nodes to to the API server's private network.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.8},"cwes":["CWE-20"],"references":["https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/issues/113757","https://groups.google.com/g/kubernetes-security-announce/c/VyPOxF7CIbA","https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20230505-0007/","https://github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes/issues/113757","https://groups.google.com/g/kubernetes-security-announce/c/VyPOxF7CIbA"],"products":["kubernetes:kubernetes"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:37:41.955480748+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-3294","score":0.01618,"percentile":0.76055,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-jh36-q97c-9928","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-jh36-q97c-9928","summary":"Kubernetes vulnerable to validation bypass","modified":"2024-08-20T20:58:32.682867Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes","ranges":[">=1.25.0 <1.25.4"],"fixed":["1.25.4"]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes","ranges":[">=1.24.0 <1.24.8"],"fixed":["1.24.8"]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes","ranges":[">=1.23.0 <1.23.14"],"fixed":["1.23.14"]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/kubernetes/kubernetes","ranges":[">=1.22.0 <1.22.16"],"fixed":["1.22.16"]}]},{"id":"GO-2023-1629","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GO-2023-1629","summary":"Kubernetes vulnerable to validation bypass in k8s.io/kubernetes","modified":"2026-03-03T04:51:23.905801Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"k8s.io/kubernetes","purl":"pkg:golang/k8s.io/kubernetes","ranges":[">=1.22.0 <1.22.16",">=1.23.0 <1.23.14",">=1.24.0 <1.24.8",">=1.25.0 <1.25.4"],"fixed":["1.22.16","1.23.14","1.24.8","1.25.4"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
