{"cve":"CVE-2022-32221","nvd":{"published":"2022-12-05T22:15:10.343","modified":"2026-10-14T17:17:39.893","status":"Modified","description":"When doing HTTP(S) transfers, libcurl might erroneously use the read callback (`CURLOPT_READFUNCTION`) to ask for data to send, even when the `CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS` option has been set, if the same handle previously was used to issue a `PUT` request which used that callback. This flaw may surprise the application and cause it to misbehave and either send off the wrong data or use memory after free or similar in the subsequent `POST` request. The problem exists in the logic for a reused handle when it is changed from a PUT to a POST.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-668","CWE-200"],"references":["http://seclists.org/fulldisclosure/2023/Jan/19","http://seclists.org/fulldisclosure/2023/Jan/20","http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2023/05/17/4","https://hackerone.com/reports/1704017","https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2023/01/msg00028.html"],"products":["apple:macos","debian:debian_linux","haxx:curl","netapp:clustered_data_ontap","netapp:h300s_firmware","netapp:h410s_firmware","netapp:h500s_firmware","netapp:h700s_firmware","splunk:universal_forwarder"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:37:28.463369388+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-32221","score":0.05092,"percentile":0.92298,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
