A malicious user or attacker can modify a request initiated by the Client (via the browser) to the Authorization Server which can lead to a privilege escalation on the subsequent approval. This scenario can happen if the Authorization Server responds with an OAuth2 Access Token Response containing an empty scope list (per RFC 6749, Section 5.1) on the subsequent request to the token endpoint to obtain the access token.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.1},"cwes":[],"references":["https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20221215-0010/","https://tanzu.vmware.com/security/cve-2022-31690","https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20221215-0010/","https://tanzu.vmware.com/security/cve-2022-31690"],"products":["netapp:active_iq_unified_manager","vmware:spring_security"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:37:08.729216836+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-31690","score":0.0125,"percentile":0.69407,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-32vj-v39g-jh23","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-32vj-v39g-jh23","summary":"spring-security-oauth2-client vulnerable to Privilege Escalation","modified":"2024-02-17T05:34:48.008166Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.springframework.security:spring-security-oauth2-client","purl":"pkg:maven/org.springframework.security/spring-security-oauth2-client","ranges":[">=5.7.0 <5.7.5"],"fixed":["5.7.5"]},{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.springframework.security:spring-security-oauth2-client","purl":"pkg:maven/org.springframework.security/spring-security-oauth2-client","ranges":["<5.6.9"],"fixed":["5.6.9"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
