In affected versions certain types of invalid files requests are not handled properly and can crash the server. If you are running multiple Parse Server instances in a cluster, the availability impact may be low; if you are running Parse Server as single instance without redundancy, the availability impact may be high. This issue has been addressed in versions 4.10.12 and 5.2.3. Users are advised to upgrade. There are no known workarounds for this issue.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-252","CWE-706"],"references":["https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/commit/5be375dec2fa35425c1003ae81c55995ac72af92","https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/security/advisories/GHSA-xw6g-jjvf-wwf9","https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/commit/5be375dec2fa35425c1003ae81c55995ac72af92","https://github.com/parse-community/parse-server/security/advisories/GHSA-xw6g-jjvf-wwf9"],"products":["parseplatform:parse-server"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:32:39.174919249+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-31089","score":0.01159,"percentile":0.67117,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-xw6g-jjvf-wwf9","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-xw6g-jjvf-wwf9","summary":"Invalid file request can crash server","modified":"2023-12-06T01:02:18.379006Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"parse-server","purl":"pkg:npm/parse-server","ranges":["<4.10.12"],"fixed":["4.10.12"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"parse-server","purl":"pkg:npm/parse-server","ranges":[">=5.0.0 <5.2.3"],"fixed":["5.2.3"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
