{"cve":"CVE-2022-31077","nvd":{"published":"2022-06-27T21:15:07.950","modified":"2026-06-17T04:44:44.837","status":"Modified","description":"KubeEdge is built upon Kubernetes and extends native containerized application orchestration and device management to hosts at the Edge. In affected versions a malicious message response from KubeEdge can crash the CSI Driver controller server by triggering a nil-pointer dereference panic. As a consequence, the CSI Driver controller will be in denial of service. This bug has been fixed in Kubeedge 1.11.0, 1.10.1, and 1.9.3. Users should update to these versions to resolve the issue. At the time of writing, no workaround exists.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":5.7},"cwes":["CWE-476"],"references":["https://github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge/pull/3899","https://github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge/pull/3899/commits/5d60ae9eabd6b6b7afe38758e19bbe8137664701","https://github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge/security/advisories/GHSA-x938-fvfw-7jh5","https://github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge/pull/3899","https://github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge/pull/3899/commits/5d60ae9eabd6b6b7afe38758e19bbe8137664701"],"products":["linuxfoundation:kubeedge"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:32:39.174919249+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-31077","score":0.00839,"percentile":0.57843,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-x938-fvfw-7jh5","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-x938-fvfw-7jh5","summary":"CloudCore CSI Driver: Malicious response from KubeEdge can crash CSI Driver controller server","modified":"2024-08-21T15:41:43.507242Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge","ranges":[">=1.10.0 <1.10.1"],"fixed":["1.10.1"]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge","ranges":["<1.9.3"],"fixed":["1.9.3"]}]},{"id":"GO-2022-0501","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GO-2022-0501","summary":"CloudCore CSI Driver: Malicious response from KubeEdge can crash CSI Driver controller server in github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge","modified":"2026-03-03T04:50:30.195562Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/kubeedge/kubeedge","ranges":["<1.9.3",">=1.10.0 <1.10.1"],"fixed":["1.9.3","1.10.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
