{"cve":"CVE-2022-2962","nvd":{"published":"2022-09-13T20:15:09.640","modified":"2026-06-17T04:42:53.473","status":"Modified","description":"A DMA reentrancy issue was found in the Tulip device emulation in QEMU. When Tulip reads or writes to the rx/tx descriptor or copies the rx/tx frame, it doesn't check whether the destination address is its own MMIO address. This can cause the device to trigger MMIO handlers multiple times, possibly leading to a stack or heap overflow. A malicious guest could use this flaw to crash the QEMU process on the host, resulting in a denial of service condition.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.8},"cwes":["CWE-662","CWE-400"],"references":["https://gitlab.com/qemu-project/qemu/-/commit/36a894aeb64a2e02871016da1c37d4a4ca109182","https://gitlab.com/qemu-project/qemu/-/issues/1171","https://gitlab.com/qemu-project/qemu/-/commit/36a894aeb64a2e02871016da1c37d4a4ca109182","https://gitlab.com/qemu-project/qemu/-/issues/1171"],"products":["qemu:qemu"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:35:14.992143698+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-2962","score":0.00402,"percentile":0.345,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
