Nokogiri prior to version 1.13.6 does not type-check all inputs into the XML and HTML4 SAX parsers, allowing specially crafted untrusted inputs to cause illegal memory access errors (segfault) or reads from unrelated memory. Version 1.13.6 contains a patch for this issue. As a workaround, ensure the untrusted input is a `String` by calling `#to_s` or equivalent.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:H","score":8.2},"cwes":["CWE-843","CWE-241"],"references":["https://github.com/sparklemotion/nokogiri/commit/83cc451c3f29df397caa890afc3b714eae6ab8f7","https://github.com/sparklemotion/nokogiri/commit/db05ba9a1bd4b90aa6c76742cf6102a7c7297267","https://github.com/sparklemotion/nokogiri/releases/tag/v1.13.6","https://github.com/sparklemotion/nokogiri/security/advisories/GHSA-xh29-r2w5-wx8m","https://securitylab.github.com/advisories/GHSL-2022-031_GHSL-2022-032_Nokogiri"],"products":["apple:macos","nokogiri:nokogiri"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:31:59.322382750+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-29181","score":0.0323,"percentile":0.88257,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-xh29-r2w5-wx8m","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-xh29-r2w5-wx8m","summary":"Nokogiri Improperly Handles Unexpected Data Type","modified":"2025-05-27T15:18:51.177236Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"RubyGems","name":"nokogiri","purl":"pkg:gem/nokogiri","ranges":["<1.13.6"],"fixed":["1.13.6"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
