An unauthenticated attacker could abuse improperly secured access to arbitrary files on the server (via /Electron/download directory traversal in conjunction with a path component that uses backslash characters), leading to cleartext credential disclosure. Afterwards, the authenticated attacker is able to upload a file that overwrites a 3CX service binary, leading to Remote Code Execution as NT AUTHORITY\\SYSTEM on Windows installations. NOTE: this issue exists because of an incomplete fix for CVE-2022-48482.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-522"],"references":["https://medium.com/%40frycos/pwning-3cx-phone-management-backends-from-the-internet-d0096339dd88","https://www.3cx.com/blog/change-log/phone-system-change-log/","https://www.3cx.com/blog/releases/v18-security-hotfix/","https://www.3cx.com/blog/releases/v18-update-3-final/","https://medium.com/%40frycos/pwning-3cx-phone-management-backends-from-the-internet-d0096339dd88"],"products":["3cx:3cx"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:31:59.322382750+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-28005","score":0.08346,"percentile":0.94956,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
