{"cve":"CVE-2022-24787","nvd":{"published":"2022-04-04T18:15:07.877","modified":"2026-06-17T04:32:31.100","status":"Modified","description":"Vyper is a Pythonic Smart Contract Language for the Ethereum Virtual Machine. In version 0.3.1 and prior, bytestrings can have dirty bytes in them, resulting in the word-for-word comparisons giving incorrect results. Even without dirty nonzero bytes, two bytestrings can compare to equal if one ends with `\"\\x00\"` because there is no comparison of the length. A patch is available and expected to be part of the 0.3.2 release. There are currently no known workarounds.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-697"],"references":["https://github.com/vyperlang/vyper/commit/2c73f8352635c0a433423a5b94740de1a118e508","https://github.com/vyperlang/vyper/security/advisories/GHSA-7vrm-3jc8-5wwm","https://github.com/vyperlang/vyper/commit/2c73f8352635c0a433423a5b94740de1a118e508","https://github.com/vyperlang/vyper/security/advisories/GHSA-7vrm-3jc8-5wwm"],"products":["vyperlang:vyper"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:29:06.454770966+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-24787","score":0.01029,"percentile":0.63702,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-7vrm-3jc8-5wwm","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-7vrm-3jc8-5wwm","summary":"Incorrect Comparison in Vyper","modified":"2024-12-05T05:47:08.393067Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"vyper","purl":"pkg:pypi/vyper","ranges":["<0.3.2"],"fixed":["0.3.2"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2022-196","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2022-196","summary":"","modified":"2023-11-08T04:08:36.471326Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"vyper","purl":"pkg:pypi/vyper","ranges":["<0.3.2"],"fixed":["0.3.2"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
