This makes it possible for unauthenticated users to call files using a PHAR wrapper, granted they can trick a site administrator into performing an action such as clicking on a link, that will deserialize and call arbitrary PHP Objects that can be used to perform a variety of malicious actions granted a POP chain is also present. It also requires that the attacker is successful in uploading a file with the serialized payload.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.8},"cwes":["CWE-502"],"references":["https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/string-locator/trunk/editor.php#L59","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?sfp_email=&sfph_mail=&reponame=&old=2759486%40string-locator&new=2759486%40string-locator&sfp_email=&sfph_mail=","https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/10a36e37-4188-403f-9b17-d7e79b8b8a6d?source=cve","https://www.wordfence.com/vulnerability-advisories/#CVE-2022-2434","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/string-locator/trunk/editor.php#L59"],"products":["instawp:string_locator"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:35:14.992143698+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-2434","score":0.01617,"percentile":0.76037,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
