{"cve":"CVE-2022-23634","nvd":{"published":"2022-02-11T22:15:07.817","modified":"2026-06-17T04:30:31.703","status":"Modified","description":"Puma is a Ruby/Rack web server built for parallelism. Prior to `puma` version `5.6.2`, `puma` may not always call `close` on the response body. Rails, prior to version `7.0.2.2`, depended on the response body being closed in order for its `CurrentAttributes` implementation to work correctly. The combination of these two behaviors (Puma not closing the body + Rails' Executor implementation) causes information leakage. This problem is fixed in Puma versions 5.6.2 and 4.3.11. This problem is fixed in Rails versions 7.02.2, 6.1.4.6, 6.0.4.6, and 5.2.6.2. Upgrading to a patched Rails _or_ Puma version fixes the vulnerability.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":5.9},"cwes":["CWE-404","CWE-200"],"references":["https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-rmj8-8hhh-gv5h","https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-wh98-p28r-vrc9","https://github.com/puma/puma/commit/b70f451fe8abc0cff192c065d549778452e155bb","https://github.com/puma/puma/security/advisories/GHSA-rmj8-8hhh-gv5h","https://groups.google.com/g/ruby-security-ann/c/FkTM-_7zSNA/m/K2RiMJBlBAAJ?utm_medium=email&utm_source=footer&pli=1"],"products":["debian:debian_linux","fedoraproject:fedora","puma:puma","rubyonrails:rails"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:28:04.509275555+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-23634","score":0.02107,"percentile":0.8176,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-rmj8-8hhh-gv5h","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-rmj8-8hhh-gv5h","summary":"Puma used with Rails may lead to Information Exposure","modified":"2026-02-04T04:40:25.385031Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"RubyGems","name":"puma","purl":"pkg:gem/puma","ranges":[">=5.0.0 <5.6.2"],"fixed":["5.6.2"]},{"ecosystem":"RubyGems","name":"puma","purl":"pkg:gem/puma","ranges":["<4.3.11"],"fixed":["4.3.11"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
