This could reveal sixteen bytes of data that was preexisting in the memory that wasn't written. In the special case of \"in place\" encryption, sixteen bytes of the plaintext would be revealed. Since OpenSSL does not support OCB based cipher suites for TLS and DTLS, they are both unaffected. Fixed in OpenSSL 3.0.5 (Affected 3.0.0-3.0.4). Fixed in OpenSSL 1.1.1q (Affected 1.1.1-1.1.1p).","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N","score":5.3},"cwes":["CWE-327"],"references":["https://cert-portal.siemens.com/productcert/pdf/ssa-332410.pdf","https://git.openssl.org/gitweb/?p=openssl.git%3Ba=commitdiff%3Bh=919925673d6c9cfed3c1085497f5dfbbed5fc431","https://git.openssl.org/gitweb/?p=openssl.git%3Ba=commitdiff%3Bh=a98f339ddd7e8f487d6e0088d4a9a42324885a93","https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2023/02/msg00019.html","https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/R6CK57NBQFTPUMXAPJURCGXUYT76NQAK/"],"products":["debian:debian_linux","fedoraproject:fedora","netapp:active_iq_unified_manager","netapp:clustered_data_ontap_antivirus_connector","netapp:h300s_firmware","netapp:h410c_firmware","netapp:h410s_firmware","netapp:h500s_firmware","netapp:h700s_firmware","openssl:openssl","siemens:sinec_ins"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:33:44.859608815+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-2097","score":0.04899,"percentile":0.9203,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-3wx7-46ch-7rq2","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-3wx7-46ch-7rq2","summary":"AES OCB fails to encrypt some bytes","modified":"2026-09-10T03:49:44.261744756Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"openssl-src","purl":"pkg:cargo/openssl-src","ranges":["<111.22.0"],"fixed":["111.22.0"]},{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"openssl-src","purl":"pkg:cargo/openssl-src","ranges":[">=300.0.0 <300.0.9"],"fixed":["300.0.9"]}]},{"id":"RUSTSEC-2022-0032","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/RUSTSEC-2022-0032","summary":"AES OCB fails to encrypt some bytes","modified":"2023-11-08T04:08:03.731927Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"openssl-src","purl":"pkg:cargo/openssl-src","ranges":[">=0.0.0-0 <111.22.0",">=300.0.0 <300.0.9"],"fixed":["111.22.0","300.0.9"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
