An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending crafted Cisco Discovery Protocol traffic to an affected device. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to cause a stack overflow, resulting in possible remote code execution or a denial of service (DoS) condition on an affected device.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:A/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.8},"cwes":["CWE-787"],"references":["https://sec.cloudapps.cisco.com/security/center/content/CiscoSecurityAdvisory/cisco-sa-ipp-oobwrite-8cMF5r7U","https://sec.cloudapps.cisco.com/security/center/content/CiscoSecurityAdvisory/cisco-sa-ipp-oobwrite-8cMF5r7U"],"products":["cisco:ip_phone_7811_firmware","cisco:ip_phone_7821_firmware","cisco:ip_phone_7832_firmware","cisco:ip_phone_7841_firmware","cisco:ip_phone_7861_firmware","cisco:ip_phone_8811_firmware","cisco:ip_phone_8831_firmware","cisco:ip_phone_8832_firmware","cisco:ip_phone_8841_firmware","cisco:ip_phone_8845_firmware","cisco:ip_phone_8851_firmware","cisco:ip_phone_8861_firmware","cisco:ip_phone_8865_firmware"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:37:28.463369388+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-20968","score":0.06355,"percentile":0.93644,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
