{"cve":"CVE-2022-2085","nvd":{"published":"2022-06-16T18:15:10.190","modified":"2026-06-17T04:41:15.310","status":"Modified","description":"A NULL pointer dereference vulnerability was found in Ghostscript, which occurs when it tries to render a large number of bits in memory. When allocating a buffer device, it relies on an init_device_procs defined for the device that uses it as a prototype that depends upon the number of bits per pixel. For bpp > 64, mem_x_device is used and does not have an init_device_procs defined. This flaw allows an attacker to parse a large number of bits (more than 64 bits per pixel), which triggers a NULL pointer dereference flaw, causing an application to crash.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":5.5},"cwes":["CWE-476"],"references":["http://git.ghostscript.com/?p=ghostpdl.git%3Bh=ae1061d948d88667bdf51d47d918c4684d0f67df","https://bugs.ghostscript.com/show_bug.cgi?id=704945","https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2095261","https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/ERSZX5LKDWAHZWJYBMP2E2UHOPUCDEGV/","https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/202211-11"],"products":["artifex:ghostscript","fedoraproject:fedora"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:32:39.174919249+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2022-2085","score":0.01406,"percentile":0.72592,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
