In versions prior to 2.5.0 there is a vulnerability that affects anyone who creates and publicly shares Gradio interfaces. File paths are not restricted and users who receive a Gradio link can access any files on the host computer if they know the file names or file paths. This is limited only by the host operating system. Paths are opened in read only mode. The problem has been patched in gradio 2.5.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":7.7},"cwes":["CWE-22"],"references":["https://github.com/gradio-app/gradio/commit/41bd3645bdb616e1248b2167ca83636a2653f781","https://github.com/gradio-app/gradio/security/advisories/GHSA-rhq2-3vr9-6mcr","https://github.com/gradio-app/gradio/commit/41bd3645bdb616e1248b2167ca83636a2653f781","https://github.com/gradio-app/gradio/security/advisories/GHSA-rhq2-3vr9-6mcr"],"products":["gradio_project:gradio"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:25:41.256909649+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2021-43831","score":0.03855,"percentile":0.90151,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-rhq2-3vr9-6mcr","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-rhq2-3vr9-6mcr","summary":"Files on the host computer can be accessed from the Gradio interface","modified":"2026-07-08T06:28:30.668714093Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"gradio","purl":"pkg:pypi/gradio","ranges":["<2.5.0"],"fixed":["2.5.0"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2021-873","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2021-873","summary":"","modified":"2023-11-08T04:07:13.852761Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"gradio","purl":"pkg:pypi/gradio","ranges":["<2.5.0"],"fixed":["2.5.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
