Due to a non-RFC-compliant check of the available authentication methods in the client-side SSH code, it is possible for an SSH server to change the login process in its favor. This attack can bypass additional security measures such as FIDO2 tokens or SSH-Askpass. Thus, it allows an attacker to abuse a forwarded agent for logging on to another server unnoticed.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-287"],"references":["https://github.com/mkj/dropbear/pull/128","https://github.com/mkj/dropbear/releases","https://github.com/mkj/dropbear/releases/tag/DROPBEAR_2022.82","https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2022/11/msg00015.html","https://github.com/mkj/dropbear/pull/128"],"products":["debian:debian_linux","dropbear_ssh_project:dropbear_ssh"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:36:05.460296998+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2021-36369","score":0.01864,"percentile":0.79282,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
