The vulnerability is related to the injection of HTTP headers via a CORS ExposeHeader tag. The newline character in the ExposeHeader tag in the CORS configuration file generates a header injection in the response when the CORS request is made. In addition, the prior bug fix for CVE-2020-10753 did not account for the use of \\r as a header separator, thus a new flaw has been created.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-74","CWE-20"],"references":["https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1951674","https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2021/08/msg00013.html","https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2023/10/msg00034.html","https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/FX5ZHI5L7FOHXOSEV3TYBAL66DMLJ7V5/","https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/LPCJN2YDZCBMF4FOJXSTAADKFGEQEO7O/"],"products":["debian:debian_linux","fedoraproject:fedora","redhat:ceph","redhat:ceph_storage"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:18:09.669877188+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2021-3524","score":0.01604,"percentile":0.75857,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
