{"cve":"CVE-2021-32769","nvd":{"published":"2021-07-16T19:15:07.893","modified":"2026-06-17T03:53:35.560","status":"Modified","description":"Micronaut is a JVM-based, full stack Java framework designed for building JVM applications. A path traversal vulnerability exists in versions prior to 2.5.9. With a basic configuration, it is possible to access any file from a filesystem, using \"/../../\" in the URL. This occurs because Micronaut does not restrict file access to configured paths. The vulnerability is patched in version 2.5.9. As a workaround, do not use `**` in mapping, use only `*`, which exposes only flat structure of a directory not allowing traversal. If using Linux, another workaround is to run micronaut in chroot.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-22"],"references":["https://github.com/micronaut-projects/micronaut-core/commit/a0cfeb13bf1ef5d692d16d4a3b91b34b7456bb11","https://github.com/micronaut-projects/micronaut-core/security/advisories/GHSA-cjx7-399x-p2rj","https://github.com/micronaut-projects/micronaut-core/commit/a0cfeb13bf1ef5d692d16d4a3b91b34b7456bb11","https://github.com/micronaut-projects/micronaut-core/security/advisories/GHSA-cjx7-399x-p2rj"],"products":["objectcomputing:micronaut"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:21:13.713336758+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2021-32769","score":0.01732,"percentile":0.77632,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-cjx7-399x-p2rj","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-cjx7-399x-p2rj","summary":"Improper Limitation of a Pathname to a Restricted Directory ('Path Traversal') in micronaut-core","modified":"2026-07-08T06:28:32.850434051Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"io.micronaut:micronaut-http-server-netty","purl":"pkg:maven/io.micronaut/micronaut-http-server-netty","ranges":["<2.5.9"],"fixed":["2.5.9"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
