{"cve":"CVE-2021-32765","nvd":{"published":"2021-10-04T21:15:12.527","modified":"2026-06-17T03:53:35.097","status":"Modified","description":"Hiredis is a minimalistic C client library for the Redis database. In affected versions Hiredis is vulnurable to integer overflow if provided maliciously crafted or corrupted `RESP` `mult-bulk` protocol data. When parsing `multi-bulk` (array-like) replies, hiredis fails to check if `count * sizeof(redisReply*)` can be represented in `SIZE_MAX`. If it can not, and the `calloc()` call doesn't itself make this check, it would result in a short allocation and subsequent buffer overflow. Users of hiredis who are unable to update may set the [maxelements](https://github.com/redis/hiredis#reader-max-array-elements) context option to a value small enough that no overflow is possible.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.8},"cwes":["CWE-190","CWE-680"],"references":["https://github.com/redis/hiredis/commit/76a7b10005c70babee357a7d0f2becf28ec7ed1e","https://github.com/redis/hiredis/security/advisories/GHSA-hfm9-39pp-55p2","https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2021/10/msg00007.html","https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/202210-32","https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20211104-0003/"],"products":["debian:debian_linux","netapp:management_services_for_element_software_and_netapp_hci","redis:hiredis"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:23:41.316049955+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2021-32765","score":0.02139,"percentile":0.82037,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
