{"cve":"CVE-2021-32696","nvd":{"published":"2021-06-18T20:15:07.633","modified":"2026-06-17T03:53:26.750","status":"Modified","description":"The npm package \"striptags\" is an implementation of PHP's strip_tags in Typescript. In striptags before version 3.2.0, a type-confusion vulnerability can cause `striptags` to concatenate unsanitized strings when an array-like object is passed in as the `html` parameter. This can be abused by an attacker who can control the shape of their input, e.g. if query parameters are passed directly into the function. This can lead to a XSS.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N","score":5.3},"cwes":["CWE-843","CWE-79","CWE-241"],"references":["https://github.com/ericnorris/striptags/commit/f252a6b0819499cd65403707ebaf5cc925f2faca","https://github.com/ericnorris/striptags/releases/tag/v3.2.0","https://github.com/ericnorris/striptags/security/advisories/GHSA-qxg5-2qff-p49r","https://www.npmjs.com/package/striptags","https://github.com/ericnorris/striptags/commit/f252a6b0819499cd65403707ebaf5cc925f2faca"],"products":["striptags_project:striptags"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:20:07.141963181+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2021-32696","score":0.01079,"percentile":0.65084,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-qxg5-2qff-p49r","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-qxg5-2qff-p49r","summary":"Passing in a non-string 'html' argument can lead to unsanitized output","modified":"2026-07-08T06:28:10.431952416Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"striptags","purl":"pkg:npm/striptags","ranges":["<3.2.0"],"fixed":["3.2.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
