Versions of fastify-csrf prior to 3.1.0 have a \"double submit\" mechanism using cookies with an application deployed across multiple subdomains, e.g. \"heroku\"-style platform as a service. Version 3.1.0 of the fastify-csrf fixes it. the vulnerability. The user of the module would need to supply a `userInfo` when generating the CSRF token to fully implement the protection on their end. This is needed only for applications hosted on different subdomains.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-352","CWE-565"],"references":["https://cheatsheetseries.owasp.org/cheatsheets/Cross-Site_Request_Forgery_Prevention_Cheat_Sheet.html","https://github.com/fastify/csrf/pull/2","https://github.com/fastify/fastify-csrf/pull/51","https://github.com/fastify/fastify-csrf/releases/tag/v3.1.0","https://github.com/fastify/fastify-csrf/security/advisories/GHSA-rc4q-9m69-gqp8"],"products":["fastify:fastify-csrf"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:18:09.669877188+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2021-29624","score":0.00829,"percentile":0.57555,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-rc4q-9m69-gqp8","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-rc4q-9m69-gqp8","summary":"Lack of protection against cookie tossing attacks in fastify-csrf","modified":"2026-07-08T06:28:40.068593532Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"fastify-csrf","purl":"pkg:npm/fastify-csrf","ranges":["<3.1.0"],"fixed":["3.1.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
