In 2.23.0, Prometheus changed its default UI to the New ui. To ensure a seamless transition, the URL's prefixed by /new redirect to /. Due to a bug in the code, it is possible for an attacker to craft an URL that can redirect to any other URL, in the /new endpoint. If a user visits a prometheus server with a specially crafted address, they can be redirected to an arbitrary URL. The issue was patched in the 2.26.1 and 2.27.1 releases. In 2.28.0, the /new endpoint will be removed completely. The workaround is to disable access to /new via a reverse proxy in front of Prometheus.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":6.1},"cwes":["CWE-601"],"references":["https://github.com/prometheus/prometheus/releases/tag/v2.26.1","https://github.com/prometheus/prometheus/releases/tag/v2.27.1","https://github.com/prometheus/prometheus/security/advisories/GHSA-vx57-7f4q-fpc7","https://github.com/prometheus/prometheus/releases/tag/v2.26.1","https://github.com/prometheus/prometheus/releases/tag/v2.27.1"],"products":["prometheus:prometheus"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:18:09.669877188+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2021-29622","score":0.1956,"percentile":0.97381,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
