In next-auth before version 3.3.0 there is a token verification vulnerability. Implementations using the Prisma database adapter in conjunction with the Email provider are impacted. Implementations using the Email provider with the default database adapter are not impacted. Implementations using the Prisma database adapter but not using the Email provider are not impacted. The Prisma database adapter was checking the verification token, but was not verifying the email address associated with that token. This made it possible to use a valid token to sign in as another user when using the Prima adapter in conjunction with the Email provider. This issue is specific to the community supported Prisma adapter. This issue is fixed in version 3.3.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":5.9},"cwes":["CWE-290"],"references":["https://github.com/nextauthjs/next-auth/releases/tag/v3.3.0","https://github.com/nextauthjs/next-auth/security/advisories/GHSA-pg53-56cg-4m8q","https://www.npmjs.com/package/next-auth","https://github.com/nextauthjs/next-auth/releases/tag/v3.3.0","https://github.com/nextauthjs/next-auth/security/advisories/GHSA-pg53-56cg-4m8q"],"products":["nextauth.js:next-auth"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:14:10.479542811+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2021-21310","score":0.01667,"percentile":0.76761,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-pg53-56cg-4m8q","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-pg53-56cg-4m8q","summary":"Token verification bug in next-auth","modified":"2026-07-08T06:00:26.320735768Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"next-auth","purl":"pkg:npm/next-auth","ranges":["<3.3.0"],"fixed":["3.3.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
