The user does not require special permissions in order to do so. By deleting the other users device they can disable the target users 2FA devices and potentially compromise the account if they figure out their password. The problem has been patched in version 1.4.1.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:H/A:N","score":8.5},"cwes":["CWE-863","CWE-285"],"references":["https://github.com/labd/wagtail-2fa/commit/ac23550d33b7436e90e3beea904647907eba5b74","https://github.com/labd/wagtail-2fa/security/advisories/GHSA-9gjv-6qq6-v7qm","https://github.com/labd/wagtail-2fa/commit/ac23550d33b7436e90e3beea904647907eba5b74","https://github.com/labd/wagtail-2fa/security/advisories/GHSA-9gjv-6qq6-v7qm"],"products":["labdigital:wagtail-2fa"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:03:08.679916934+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2020-5240","score":0.00999,"percentile":0.62782,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-9gjv-6qq6-v7qm","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-9gjv-6qq6-v7qm","summary":"2FA bypass through deleting devices in wagtail-2fa","modified":"2026-09-10T03:48:29.719471847Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"wagtail-2fa","purl":"pkg:pypi/wagtail-2fa","ranges":["<1.4.1"],"fixed":["1.4.1"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2020-219","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2020-219","summary":"","modified":"2023-11-08T04:03:52.662840Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"wagtail-2fa","purl":"pkg:pypi/wagtail-2fa","ranges":["<1.4.1"],"fixed":["1.4.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
