{"cve":"CVE-2020-29456","nvd":{"published":"2020-12-02T08:15:10.620","modified":"2026-06-17T03:11:18.430","status":"Modified","description":"Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in Papermerge before 1.5.2 allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the rename, tag, upload, or create folder function. The payload can be in a folder, a tag, or a document's filename. If email consumption is configured in Papermerge, a malicious document can be sent by email and is automatically uploaded into the Papermerge web application. Therefore, no authentication is required to exploit XSS if email consumption is configured. Otherwise authentication is required.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":6.1},"cwes":["CWE-79"],"references":["https://github.com/ciur/papermerge/issues/228","https://github.com/ciur/papermerge/releases/tag/v1.5.2","https://www.papermerge.com/","https://github.com/ciur/papermerge/issues/228","https://github.com/ciur/papermerge/releases/tag/v1.5.2"],"products":["papermerge:papermerge"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:11:20.317016139+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2020-29456","score":0.01559,"percentile":0.75223,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-9w49-m7xh-5r39","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-9w49-m7xh-5r39","summary":"Cross-site scripting in papermerge","modified":"2024-10-09T20:24:04.901651Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"papermerge","purl":"pkg:pypi/papermerge","ranges":[">=1.2.0 <1.5.2"],"fixed":["1.5.2"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2020-74","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2020-74","summary":"","modified":"2023-11-08T04:03:31.169710Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"papermerge","purl":"pkg:pypi/papermerge","ranges":[">=1.2.0 <1.5.2"],"fixed":["1.5.2"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
