Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability. The specific flaw exists within the mini_httpd service, which listens on TCP port 80 by default. The issue results from improper state tracking in the password recovery process. An attacker can leverage this in conjunction with other vulnerabilities to execute code in the context of root. Was ZDI-CAN-11365.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:A/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.8},"cwes":["CWE-668","CWE-642"],"references":["https://kb.netgear.com/000062641/Security-Advisory-for-Password-Recovery-Vulnerabilities-on-Some-Routers","https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-21-071/","https://kb.netgear.com/000062641/Security-Advisory-for-Password-Recovery-Vulnerabilities-on-Some-Routers","https://www.zerodayinitiative.com/advisories/ZDI-21-071/"],"products":["netgear:ac2100_firmware","netgear:ac2400_firmware","netgear:ac2600_firmware","netgear:r6020_firmware","netgear:r6080_firmware","netgear:r6120_firmware","netgear:r6220_firmware","netgear:r6230_firmware","netgear:r6260_firmware","netgear:r6330_firmware","netgear:r6350_firmware","netgear:r6700_firmware","netgear:r6800_firmware","netgear:r6850_firmware","netgear:r6900_firmware","netgear:r7200_firmware","netgear:r7350_firmware","netgear:r7400_firmware","netgear:r7450_firmware"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:14:10.479542811+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2020-27872","score":0.00937,"percentile":0.60871,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
