{"cve":"CVE-2020-27217","nvd":{"published":"2020-11-13T20:15:16.270","modified":"2026-06-17T03:08:58.330","status":"Modified","description":"In Eclipse Hono version 1.3.0 and 1.4.0 the AMQP protocol adapter does not verify the size of AMQP messages received from devices. In particular, a device may send messages that are bigger than the max-message-size that the protocol adapter has indicated during link establishment. While the AMQP 1.0 protocol explicitly disallows a peer to send such messages, a hand crafted AMQP 1.0 client could exploit this behavior in order to send a message of unlimited size to the adapter, eventually causing the adapter to fail with an out of memory exception.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-1284"],"references":["https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=567068","https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=567068"],"products":["eclipse:hono"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:11:20.317016139+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2020-27217","score":0.01304,"percentile":0.70525,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-9f52-hpvw-v96w","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-9f52-hpvw-v96w","summary":"Improper Validation of Specified Quantity in Input in Eclipse Hono","modified":"2023-11-08T04:03:21.194931Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.eclipse.hono:hono-core","purl":"pkg:maven/org.eclipse.hono/hono-core","ranges":["<1.4.3"],"fixed":["1.4.3"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
