If the ‘createMBServerConnectorFactory‘ property of the default InstrumentationManagerImpl is not disabled, then it is vulnerable to a man-in-the-middle (MITM) style attack. An attacker on the same host can connect to the registry and rebind the entry to another server, thus acting as a proxy to the original. They are then able to gain access to all of the information that is sent and received over JMX.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:A/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":5.3},"cwes":[],"references":["http://cxf.apache.org/security-advisories.data/CVE-2020-1954.txt.asc?version=1&modificationDate=1585730169000&api=v2","https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/rd49aabd984ed540c8ff7916d4d79405f3fa311d2fdbcf9ed307839a6%40%3Ccommits.cxf.apache.org%3E","https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/rec7160382badd3ef4ad017a22f64a266c7188b9ba71394f0d321e2d4%40%3Ccommits.cxf.apache.org%3E","https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/rfb87e0bf3995e7d560afeed750fac9329ff5f1ad49da365129b7f89e%40%3Ccommits.cxf.apache.org%3E","https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20220210-0001/"],"products":["apache:cxf","netapp:oncommand_workflow_automation","netapp:snapmanager","oracle:communications_diameter_signaling_router","oracle:communications_diameter_signaling_router_idih\\","oracle:communications_element_manager","oracle:communications_session_report_manager","oracle:communications_session_route_manager","oracle:enterprise_manager_base_platform","oracle:peoplesoft_enterprise_peopletools"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:03:08.679916934+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2020-1954","score":0.06147,"percentile":0.93468,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-ffm7-7r8g-77xm","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-ffm7-7r8g-77xm","summary":"Apache CXF JMX Integration is vulnerable to a MITM attack","modified":"2024-02-22T05:34:00.973377Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.apache.cxf:cxf-rt-management","purl":"pkg:maven/org.apache.cxf/cxf-rt-management","ranges":["<3.2.13"],"fixed":["3.2.13"]},{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"org.apache.cxf:cxf-rt-management","purl":"pkg:maven/org.apache.cxf/cxf-rt-management","ranges":[">=3.3.0 <3.3.6"],"fixed":["3.3.6"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
