When the Urgent flag is set in a TCP packet, and the stack is configured to ignore the urgent data, the stack attempts to use the value of the Urgent pointer bytes to separate the Urgent data from the normal data, by calculating the offset at which the normal data should be present in the global buffer. However, the length of this offset is not checked; therefore, for large values of the Urgent pointer bytes, the data pointer can point to memory that is way beyond the data buffer in uip_process in uip.c.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:H","score":8.2},"cwes":["CWE-787"],"references":["https://cert-portal.siemens.com/productcert/pdf/ssa-541018.pdf","https://us-cert.cisa.gov/ics/advisories/icsa-20-343-01","https://www.kb.cert.org/vuls/id/815128","https://cert-portal.siemens.com/productcert/pdf/ssa-541018.pdf","https://us-cert.cisa.gov/ics/advisories/icsa-20-343-01"],"products":["open-iscsi_project:open-iscsi","siemens:sentron_3va_com100_firmware","siemens:sentron_3va_com800_firmware","siemens:sentron_3va_dsp800_firmware","siemens:sentron_pac2200_clp_firmware","siemens:sentron_pac2200_firmware","siemens:sentron_pac3200_firmware","siemens:sentron_pac3200t_firmware","siemens:sentron_pac3220_firmware","siemens:sentron_pac4200_firmware","uip_project:uip"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:12:09.559580076+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2020-17437","score":0.02862,"percentile":0.86762,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
