{"cve":"CVE-2020-15777","nvd":{"published":"2020-08-25T22:15:11.473","modified":"2026-06-17T02:57:10.010","status":"Modified","description":"An issue was discovered in the Maven Extension plugin before 1.6 for Gradle Enterprise. The extension uses a socket connection to send serialized Java objects. Deserialization is not restricted to an allow-list, thus allowing an attacker to achieve code execution via a malicious deserialization gadget chain. The socket is not bound exclusively to localhost. The port this socket is assigned to is randomly selected and is not intentionally exposed to the public (either by design or documentation). This could potentially be used to achieve remote code execution and local privilege escalation.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.8},"cwes":["CWE-502"],"references":["https://docs.gradle.com/enterprise/maven-extension/#1_6","https://security.gradle.com/advisory/CVE-2020-15777","https://docs.gradle.com/enterprise/maven-extension/#1_6","https://security.gradle.com/advisory/CVE-2020-15777"],"products":["gradle:maven"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:09:20.498348299+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2020-15777","score":0.01047,"percentile":0.64213,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-vp55-fhxx-vcx8","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-vp55-fhxx-vcx8","summary":"Maven Extension plugin for Gradle Enterprise vulnerable to Deserialization of Untrusted Data","modified":"2023-11-08T04:02:37.966985Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Maven","name":"com.gradle:gradle-enterprise-maven-extension","purl":"pkg:maven/com.gradle/gradle-enterprise-maven-extension","ranges":["<1.6"],"fixed":["1.6"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
