{"cve":"CVE-2020-15266","nvd":{"published":"2020-10-21T21:15:12.350","modified":"2026-06-17T02:56:23.627","status":"Modified","description":"In Tensorflow before version 2.4.0, when the `boxes` argument of `tf.image.crop_and_resize` has a very large value, the CPU kernel implementation receives it as a C++ `nan` floating point value. Attempting to operate on this is undefined behavior which later produces a segmentation fault. The issue is patched in eccb7ec454e6617738554a255d77f08e60ee0808 and TensorFlow 2.4.0 will be released containing the patch. TensorFlow nightly packages after this commit will also have the issue resolved.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-119"],"references":["https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/issues/42129","https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/pull/42143/commits/3ade2efec2e90c6237de32a19680caaa3ebc2845","https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/security/advisories/GHSA-xwhf-g6j5-j5gc","https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/issues/42129","https://github.com/tensorflow/tensorflow/pull/42143/commits/3ade2efec2e90c6237de32a19680caaa3ebc2845"],"products":["google:tensorflow"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:09:53.489947993+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2020-15266","score":0.0094,"percentile":0.60943,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-xwhf-g6j5-j5gc","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-xwhf-g6j5-j5gc","summary":"Float cast overflow undefined behavior","modified":"2026-07-08T06:00:37.840609805Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"tensorflow","purl":"pkg:pypi/tensorflow","ranges":["<2.4.0"],"fixed":["2.4.0"]},{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"tensorflow-cpu","purl":"pkg:pypi/tensorflow-cpu","ranges":["<2.4.0"],"fixed":["2.4.0"]},{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"tensorflow-gpu","purl":"pkg:pypi/tensorflow-gpu","ranges":["<2.4.0"],"fixed":["2.4.0"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2020-139","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2020-139","summary":"","modified":"2023-12-06T01:00:17.667384Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"tensorflow","purl":"pkg:pypi/tensorflow","ranges":["<2.4.0"],"fixed":["2.4.0"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2020-296","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2020-296","summary":"","modified":"2023-12-06T01:00:17.667384Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"tensorflow-cpu","purl":"pkg:pypi/tensorflow-cpu","ranges":["<2.4.0"],"fixed":["2.4.0"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2020-331","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2020-331","summary":"","modified":"2023-12-06T01:00:17.667384Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"tensorflow-gpu","purl":"pkg:pypi/tensorflow-gpu","ranges":["<2.4.0"],"fixed":["2.4.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
