Specially encoded paths could be used with the trailing slash redirect to allow an open redirect to occur to an external site. In general, this redirect does not directly harm users although can allow for phishing attacks by redirecting to an attackers domain from a trusted domain. The issue is fixed in version 9.5.4.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":6.1},"cwes":["CWE-601"],"references":["https://github.com/vercel/next.js/security/advisories/GHSA-x56p-c8cg-q435","https://github.com/zeit/next.js/releases/tag/v9.5.4","https://github.com/vercel/next.js/security/advisories/GHSA-x56p-c8cg-q435","https://github.com/zeit/next.js/releases/tag/v9.5.4"],"products":["vercel:next.js"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:09:53.489947993+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2020-15242","score":0.00773,"percentile":0.55719,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-x56p-c8cg-q435","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-x56p-c8cg-q435","summary":"Open Redirect in Next.js versions","modified":"2026-09-10T03:48:35.467139366Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"next","purl":"pkg:npm/next","ranges":[">=9.5.0 <9.5.4"],"fixed":["9.5.4"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
