{"cve":"CVE-2020-15185","nvd":{"published":"2020-09-17T22:15:12.443","modified":"2026-06-17T02:56:13.187","status":"Modified","description":"In Helm before versions 2.16.11 and 3.3.2, a Helm repository can contain duplicates of the same chart, with the last one always used. If a repository is compromised, this lowers the level of access that an attacker needs to inject a bad chart into a repository. To perform this attack, an attacker must have write access to the index file (which can occur during a MITM attack on a non-SSL connection). This issue has been patched in Helm 3.3.2 and 2.16.11. A possible workaround is to manually review the index file in the Helm repository cache before installing software.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N","score":2.7},"cwes":["CWE-74","CWE-694"],"references":["https://github.com/helm/helm/commit/055dd41cbe53ce131ab0357524a7f6729e6e40dc","https://github.com/helm/helm/security/advisories/GHSA-jm56-5h66-w453","https://github.com/helm/helm/commit/055dd41cbe53ce131ab0357524a7f6729e6e40dc","https://github.com/helm/helm/security/advisories/GHSA-jm56-5h66-w453"],"products":["helm:helm"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:09:53.489947993+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2020-15185","score":0.00883,"percentile":0.59206,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-jm56-5h66-w453","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-jm56-5h66-w453","summary":"Repository index file allows for duplicates of the same chart entry in helm","modified":"2026-07-08T06:27:39.471417012Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"helm.sh/helm/v3","purl":"pkg:golang/helm.sh/helm/v3","ranges":[">=3.0.0 <3.3.2"],"fixed":["3.3.2"]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"helm.sh/helm","purl":"pkg:golang/helm.sh/helm","ranges":["<2.16.11"],"fixed":["2.16.11"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
