{"cve":"CVE-2020-15084","nvd":{"published":"2020-06-30T16:15:15.220","modified":"2026-06-17T02:56:01.577","status":"Modified","description":"In express-jwt (NPM package) up and including version 5.3.3, the algorithms entry to be specified in the configuration is not being enforced. When algorithms is not specified in the configuration, with the combination of jwks-rsa, it may lead to authorization bypass. You are affected by this vulnerability if all of the following conditions apply: - You are using express-jwt - You do not have **algorithms** configured in your express-jwt configuration. - You are using libraries such as jwks-rsa as the **secret**. You can fix this by specifying **algorithms** in the express-jwt configuration. See linked GHSA for example. This is also fixed in version 6.0.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N","score":9.1},"cwes":["CWE-863","CWE-285"],"references":["https://github.com/auth0/express-jwt/commit/7ecab5f8f0cab5297c2b863596566eb0c019cdef","https://github.com/auth0/express-jwt/security/advisories/GHSA-6g6m-m6h5-w9gf","https://github.com/auth0/express-jwt/commit/7ecab5f8f0cab5297c2b863596566eb0c019cdef","https://github.com/auth0/express-jwt/security/advisories/GHSA-6g6m-m6h5-w9gf"],"products":["auth0:express-jwt"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:06:22.076270124+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2020-15084","score":0.01221,"percentile":0.68715,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-6g6m-m6h5-w9gf","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-6g6m-m6h5-w9gf","summary":"Authorization bypass in express-jwt","modified":"2026-07-08T06:28:48.938804748Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"express-jwt","purl":"pkg:npm/express-jwt","ranges":["<6.0.0"],"fixed":["6.0.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
