It expects a font name to be at max UINT32_MAX - 1 length in bytes but it doesn't verify it before proceed with buffer allocation to read the value from the font value. An attacker may leverage that by crafting a malicious font file which has a name with UINT32_MAX, leading to read_section_as_string() to an arithmetic overflow, zero-sized allocation and further heap-based buffer overflow.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:H","score":6.0},"cwes":["CWE-190","CWE-122"],"references":["http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2020-08/msg00016.html","http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2020-08/msg00017.html","https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=CVE-2020-14310","https://security.gentoo.org/glsa/202104-05","https://usn.ubuntu.com/4432-1/"],"products":["canonical:ubuntu_linux","gnu:grub2","opensuse:leap","redhat:enterprise_linux","redhat:enterprise_linux_eus","redhat:enterprise_linux_server_aus","redhat:enterprise_linux_server_tus"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:06:22.076270124+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2020-14310","score":0.0046,"percentile":0.39915,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
