Due to use of a potentially dangerous function, Squid and the default certificate validation helper are vulnerable to a Denial of Service when opening a TLS connection to an attacker-controlled server for HTTPS. This occurs because unrecognized error values are mapped to NULL, but later code expects that each error value is mapped to a valid error string.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":[],"references":["http://www.squid-cache.org/Advisories/SQUID-2020_6.txt","http://www.squid-cache.org/Versions/v4/changesets/squid-4-93f5fda134a2a010b84ffedbe833d670e63ba4be.patch","http://www.squid-cache.org/Versions/v5/changesets/squid-5-c6d1a4f6a2cbebceebc8a3fcd8f539ceb7b7f723.patch","https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/3RG5FGSTCAYVIJPJHIY3MRZ7NFT6HDO7/","https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20210312-0001/"],"products":["fedoraproject:fedora","netapp:cloud_manager","squid-cache:squid"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:06:22.076270124+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2020-14058","score":0.02538,"percentile":0.84965,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
