{"cve":"CVE-2020-13948","nvd":{"published":"2020-09-17T13:15:15.850","modified":"2026-06-17T02:53:57.700","status":"Modified","description":"While investigating a bug report on Apache Superset, it was determined that an authenticated user could craft requests via a number of templated text fields in the product that would allow arbitrary access to Python’s `os` package in the web application process in versions < 0.37.1. It was thus possible for an authenticated user to list and access files, environment variables, and process information. Additionally it was possible to set environment variables for the current process, create and update files in folders writable by the web process, and execute arbitrary programs accessible by the web process. All other operations available to the `os` package in Python were also available, even if not explicitly enumerated in this CVE.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.8},"cwes":[],"references":["https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r0e35c7c5672a6146b962840be5c1a7b7461c05a71cd7ecc62774d155%40%3Cnotifications.superset.apache.org%3E","https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r4fc7115f6e63ac255c48fc68c0da592df55fe4be47cae6378d39ac22%40%3Cnotifications.superset.apache.org%3E","https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/rdeee068ac1e0c43bd5b69830240f30598df15a2ef9f7998c7b29131e%40%3Cdev.superset.apache.org%3E","https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r0e35c7c5672a6146b962840be5c1a7b7461c05a71cd7ecc62774d155%40%3Cnotifications.superset.apache.org%3E","https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/r4fc7115f6e63ac255c48fc68c0da592df55fe4be47cae6378d39ac22%40%3Cnotifications.superset.apache.org%3E"],"products":["apache:superset"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:09:20.498348299+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2020-13948","score":0.03102,"percentile":0.87759,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-cj7g-h7rf-h8j9","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-cj7g-h7rf-h8j9","summary":"Apache Superset OS Command Injection","modified":"2025-02-05T09:11:57.663128Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"apache-superset","purl":"pkg:pypi/apache-superset","ranges":["<0.37.1"],"fixed":["0.37.1"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2020-222","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2020-222","summary":"","modified":"2026-06-10T17:00:33.061126448Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"apache-superset","purl":"pkg:pypi/apache-superset","ranges":["<0.37.1"],"fixed":["0.37.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
