{"cve":"CVE-2020-11501","nvd":{"published":"2020-04-03T13:15:13.170","modified":"2026-10-14T09:17:17.877","status":"Modified","description":"GnuTLS 3.6.x before 3.6.13 uses incorrect cryptography for DTLS. The earliest affected version is 3.6.3 (2018-07-16) because of an error in a 2017-10-06 commit. The DTLS client always uses 32 '\\0' bytes instead of a random value, and thus contributes no randomness to a DTLS negotiation. This breaks the security guarantees of the DTLS protocol.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N","score":7.4},"cwes":["CWE-330"],"references":["http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2020-04/msg00015.html","https://gitlab.com/gnutls/gnutls/-/commit/5b595e8e52653f6c5726a4cdd8fddeb6e83804d2","https://gitlab.com/gnutls/gnutls/-/issues/960","https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/ILMOWPKMTZAIMK5F32TUMO34XCABUCFJ/","https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/package-announce%40lists.fedoraproject.org/message/WDYY3R4F5CUTFAMXH2C5NKYFVDEJLTT7/"],"products":["canonical:ubuntu_linux","debian:debian_linux","fedoraproject:fedora","gnu:gnutls","opensuse:leap"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:03:08.679916934+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2020-11501","score":0.03388,"percentile":0.88713,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
