{"cve":"CVE-2019-19241","nvd":{"published":"2019-12-17T20:15:11.540","modified":"2026-06-17T02:26:21.143","status":"Modified","description":"In the Linux kernel before 5.4.2, the io_uring feature leads to requests that inadvertently have UID 0 and full capabilities, aka CID-181e448d8709. This is related to fs/io-wq.c, fs/io_uring.c, and net/socket.c. For example, an attacker can bypass intended restrictions on adding an IPv4 address to the loopback interface. This occurs because IORING_OP_SENDMSG operations, although requested in the context of an unprivileged user, are sometimes performed by a kernel worker thread without considering that context.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.8},"cwes":[],"references":["https://bugs.chromium.org/p/project-zero/issues/detail?id=1975","https://cdn.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v5.x/ChangeLog-5.4.2","https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=181e448d8709e517c9c7b523fcd209f24eb38ca7","https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=d69e07793f891524c6bbf1e75b9ae69db4450953","https://security.netapp.com/advisory/ntap-20200103-0001/"],"products":["linux:linux_kernel"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T20:59:27.069234358+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2019-19241","score":0.01087,"percentile":0.65306,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
