Because the resulting string is pasted directly into the text node of the element this does not result in a direct injection into the webpage; however, if a webpage subsequently copies the node's innerHTML, assigning it to another innerHTML, this would result in an XSS vulnerability. Two WYSIWYG editors were identified with this behavior, more may exist. This vulnerability affects Firefox ESR < 68.4 and Firefox < 72.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":6.1},"cwes":["CWE-79"],"references":["http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2020-01/msg00029.html","http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-security-announce/2020-01/msg00043.html","http://packetstormsecurity.com/files/155912/Slackware-Security-Advisory-mozilla-thunderbird-Updates.html","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2020:0085","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2020:0086"],"products":["canonical:ubuntu_linux","debian:debian_linux","mozilla:firefox","mozilla:firefox_esr","redhat:enterprise_linux_desktop","redhat:enterprise_linux_server","redhat:enterprise_linux_server_aus","redhat:enterprise_linux_server_tus","redhat:enterprise_linux_workstation"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T21:01:01.339895972+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2019-17022","score":0.01988,"percentile":0.80627,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
